The Gum Theif

So let me start this post of a lovely story that takes me many years back.

Ever since I was little, I was always fascinated with gum. Yellow gum, green gum, bubble gum, mint gum... you name it, and I wanted it. As a little girl, I loved going to the grocery store and mall because the gum aisles were the best part. Money was not an option at the time because I did not have a dime to my name. I started a gum habit which led to me stealing gum (which I thought was innocent at the time). My parents suddenly caught onto what I was doing because I was a bad liar. Every time I got caught stealing gum, they would immidately take me to the store owner and tell me to apologize. With the tears filling my big brown eyes, I knew that nobody could say no to me (which was the case 100% of the time). I had this gum habit down to an art.

Well, one day, my family went to blockbuster to pick out a movie. On the way to the store I was already planning on what type of gum I would steal. As I approached the store I went straight towards the candy aisle and there it was, an entire row of rainbow colored gum. As I began to reach my hand out, my parents stopped me and said "come with me." They took me to the parking lot where there was a man in a uniform. He approached me and gave me a lecture I will never forget. My brother and sister were in the car watching the entire situation. They were both afraid I was going to go to jail.

Due to the traumatizing experience, I can proudly say that was the last day I ever stole anything. Needless to say, I didn't go to jail, nor was that a real police officer who gave me a lecture. After a couple years my parents told me it was just a fireman, but they knew anyone in a suit would intimidate me, and at the time I did not know the difference. Nice one!

Anyways, I still have a mad love for gum, and Lucas is well aware of this. He is also aware that I am notorious for chewing gum for 5 seconds and grabbing a new piece once all the sugar is gone. Knowing this, he decided to hide his "secret gum stash" from me." Ha, expecting that I would not find it... I can smell gum from 5 miles away. The first hiding space was not very good, it was in his sock drawer (which I found immediately). I started feeding off the gum for a couple days, and he realized I found his stash. He decided to hide his stash again and he assured me that I would not find it. Well, I decided to be patient and I knew the gum would come to me.

So today I was boxing up coffee mugs for the big move in October. As I am wrapping each mug, I come across a mug that has.... wait for it... Lucas's gum stash in it! I knew it, the gum came to me, I was not even looking this time. After I got done opening the new pack and enjoying each sugary taste of goodness, I text lucas and said, "nice try."

Hmm.. I wonder where the next hiding spot will be? Good luck Lucas :)
